The story behind Mauve: from acne struggles to own brand
Hi, I'm Katrien, founder of MAUVE.
For years I slept on a satin pillowcase to take care of my curly hair and my acne-prone skin, but more and more I started to wonder: couldn't this be better?
MAUVE was born out of a personal search for a pillowcase that is good for my hair and my skin, without the slippery, unpleasant feeling that most beauty pillowcases provide.
Many affordable “satin” options are made from synthetic fabrics that feel warm, sticky, and less comfortable. Silk didn't feel like the right choice for me either: expensive, delicate to maintain, and definitely not animal-friendly.
After a lot of research and conversations with textile engineers, beauticians, and hairdressers, I discovered lyocell TENCEL™ satin.
A super soft, breathable fabric made from plant-based materials, without the downsides of polyester or silk. Gentle on your hair and your skin, super easy to maintain, and made for real beauty sleep.
